Public Introduction to the DWP Case Studies

The Independent Case Examiner (ICE) has formally acknowledged receipt of the DWP complaint and evidence bundle. The matter has been registered and is now awaiting allocation to an investigator. The complainant has been informed that no further action is required at this stage. CURB will update the DWP UC Migration Systemic Failures page once further information is provided.

Public‑Facing Introduction
This case study examines the experience of a vulnerable adult with lifelong disabilities during the transition from Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) to Universal Credit (UC).
It highlights a series of administrative errors, safeguarding failures, and systemic weaknesses within the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that placed the claimant at significant risk.
